Before and After The Storm

Water is one of the most destructive forces on Earth. When your property is damaged by water intrusion, the repairs and managing of those repairs can be a daunting task. In this short interview session, Secure Investments Broker Tanya Chappell has a talk with Zach Heern of Dreyer’s  DKI. They have some great advice for homeowners and tenants alike, on making the job of getting your property back together after a disaster a little less taxing.

Things you can do to prevent water damages to your home are…

  • Use steel grated hoses on your toilet supply line, it’s worth the couple extra bucks
  • More routine home maintenance on limbs and dead trees that have the potential to damage a roof causing water to leak into your home
  • If you have gutters on your home, you will want to make sure to keep them cleared of debris
  • Check windows and chimneys to make sure they don’t need new caulk around them
  • If you are in a low lying, prone to flooding area, with all the rain we have already had this year having sand bags on hand is a must to keep your home from having water damage

Check these tips around your home routinely, not just when there is potential for flooding or severe weather that may cause damage to your home.
